tumble tee + peplum and last call for the sew fab pattern bundle. . .

(this post contains affiliate links)

I made a very last minute top this afternoon for the kiddo using the Tumble Tee pattern by Imagine Gnats. It's one of 26 patterns included in the Sew Fab PDF Pattern Bundle for $29.95. There are only a few hours left for this sale and once it ends, the bundle will no longer be available. If you had plans to purchase the bundle but have waited - now is the time to click buy! You really can't beat paying a little over a dollar each for 26 sewing patterns.

Back to the top. . . I've been wanting to try making a top with a peplum for a while now but for some reason was intimidated. Silly because it was so ridiculously easy. I used this tutorial to figure out how to draft a peplum pattern. Since I wanted a somewhat boxy top, I used the Tumble Tee pattern as my starting point. I also wanted to add a bit of color to the top so I added a neck band and arm bands. The entire top - from drafting the peplum to cutting fabric to sewing against the clock - took less than two hours. And I am SLOW compared to pretty much anyone out there that sews. There are a couple of things I would change next time around but I'm thinking this turned out pretty well for having totally winged it. Best part was finishing with a few minutes to spare before sunset so I was able to snap a few photos to share.

The fabrics! I ordered both of these from Fabric.com a few days ago and they, along with some other yummy knits; were delivered today. I simply couldn't resist cutting into them. I love the little stars print but it is fairly lightweight so I might make this peplum top again minus the neck band as the fabric collapses a bit under the weight of the ribbing.
