100+

It has been so unbelievably, unbearably hot here! Temps have been around 100 degrees during the day for what seems like forever now. There's another heat advisory today. Yay. Needless to say, we've been rather cooped at home lately. The only fresh air we're getting is in the evening when we hang out on the porch for those few moments between way too freaking hot and mosquito fest. At least the kiddo had two days of school this week to entertain her. Turns out she loves it. Didn't want to leave. I felt a bit snubbed but we won't talk about that!

My child actually napped while at school Wednesday and the fact that it was on an unenclosed cot was even more surprising. Perfect timing because Target has this little bed on sale this week and I brought one home! It wasn't my first or even second choice but for $60 bucks, I couldn't pass it up. So, the kiddo is getting to move to a big girl bed, I'm making her a quilt, and am now inspired to paint and redecorate the whole room. I've come across some really cool ideas on a few blogs (Ohdeedoh, for one) and on Etsy and will share them with you soon.

Have a wonderful weekend! Oh, and hello to everyone stopping by from Sew Much Ado!

  1. Amazing how one piece of furniture can inspire a total redecoration concept! Husband and I are going through this - we bought a new bookcase and now we're coming up with new concepts for the entire living/dining area. How fun though! Can't wait to see the new ideas.

  2. I can see the bed painted in a different color to, not match, but go with the quilt. Can't wait to see the end result of the bedroom!

  5. Hi Vanessa,
Just bought my 2 year old her big girl bed very similar to Syd's. She is having trouble staying in it, but usually gives up and goes to sleep eventually. My mom made her a butterfly quilt to go with her butterfly garden wall paint (we had an artist do it).

    Good luck to you.

  7. Awww, I'm glad to hear that Syd loves school so much, but I'm sure it's also a little hard that she loves it so much! Growing pains, huh?

Lauren decided to escape from her crib for the first time last week, so we were thrown into big-girl bed territory. Her crib (which she has LOVED for the first 2 1/2 years of her life) converts into a toddler bed, but she's just not having it. We have to put two baby gates in her doorway to keep her contained, and she's only slept in her bed once in the last week. The rest of the time she sleeps on the floor, which is SO pitiful! Hopefully she'll get a hang of it soon enough.

I have heard that most kids don't have this much trouble sleeping in a toddler bed. Hopefully Syd will love it! Can't wait to see the quilt you make for her!
