Rainy day fabric shopping

The plan was to spend enough time at the park yesterday to ensure Syd would take a nap. The weather had other plans. We were there all of 10 minutes before the rain put in an appearance. So, off to the fabric store we went. I've had plans to order some cute fabric to make Syd a backpack for some time now. I've had the pattern for what seems like forever now but just couldn't decide what fabric to get. Well, I've run out of time so I just picked something up at Hobby Lobby. It's not my first choice but figure I can always make another backpack! I think next time I'll go with this print.

Of course, Hobby Lobby did not have the color piping or zipper I needed, so we made the trek to Walmart. I still didn't find what I wanted but just went with a neutral zipper. I did find this cool plaid knit fabric for 2 bucks a yard! I think I'll be making a Warhol dress with some of it.

Did you score any great fabric finds this weekend? Any cool projects in the works?

PS. I'll be drawing a winner for the Noodles and Milk pattern giveaway tonight!

  1. I think that'll be a fun backpack. I was at Hobby Lobby this weekend and somehow missed that print - - I really like it! I picked up some dark brown zebra print cotton there...haven't decided if I'll turn it into pillows or a bag for this Fall.

  2. Love the finds! I'm working on a post about my awesome/chic/cheap curtain projects. Can't wait to get sewing this week. Thanks for all of your inspiration!
