life lately

So far this summer the kiddo's been to the zoo twice, our local museum twice, the library twice, and to several parks on numerous occasions. . . it's been fun and I hope that we get to go on many more "big" outings before the dreaded school year starts. Some days, like yesterday, we stick to something simple like cactus shopping. Syd has been on a kick this week about how she just had to have a cactus and that we needed to go shopping for one. So we did. And since I'm trying to make it a habit to use my camera on a more regular basis, I brought it along. I'm still pretty self conscious about walking around with a big camera pressed against my face in the middle of a store (guess I'm convinced I'll get in trouble or something) so I only took a few while there.

I figured an actual cactus might not be the wisest choice for Syd. As you can see above, the kiddo is very tactile and likes to touch everything. Instead, I led her over to the succulents where she picked out a cute hen and chicks plant. She named it Steven. You can see Steven below. Once we had our "cactus" we drove around town so I could snap some photos of whatever caught my eye - like the ferris wheel. No, we didn't go for a spin . . . maybe next time! What are your favorite low key things to do over the summer to keep the kiddos entertained?

*the top Syd is wearing was made by Shino, who we got to meet up with recently. Thanks, Shino!

  3. too perfect that she named it Steven! LOL My dd named her first sewing machine Steve (she was about 10 at the time). When I asked her why she said "it's a brother! and my brother's name is steve. duh" Your ferris wheel photo is gorgeous!
