winter pj's pattern | peek-a-boo pattern shop

I made the kiddo some new pj's using a pattern by Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop. It is one of the many patterns included in the Sew Fab pattern bundle sale that is available through February 11, 2013 only. $24.95 for 18 pdf sewing patterns (including this awesome pj pattern)...can't beat that! Make sure to purchase your bundle before the offer expires. This is a pattern I can see using over and over again...super simple to make, doesn't take up too much fabric (for the smaller sizes, at least - I made a 3T with sleeves and pant legs slightly lengthened), and fits perfectly. There is also a summer pj version available which I can't wait to try (included in the Sew Fab bundle too!). I need to get my hands on some more cute knits soon!

I used my serger for pretty much the entire project aside from hemming and top stitching. You could easily use a sewing machine instead but it would probably be best to use a thicker knit like jersey or interlock. The pattern steps are simple to follow and includes lots of photos to make it even easier.

I picked up this nifty grey + neon coral knit at Hobby Lobby of all places What I love about it - stripes, neon, and grey all in one place! It's really soft and comfy. It was inexpensive - $4.XX a yard with a coupon. On the downside...it's rather thin and it wasn't the easiest to work with since it curled at the edges a lot. That said, I'm probably going to have to get more in the other colors they have available because I love the way it looks! I don't have any local sources for rib knit so I cut up an old tank top I had sitting around to finish off the collar and cuffs. Oh and that book in the top photo...cutest thing ever. I absolutely love the colors and textures in it and had to buy it when I came across it at Target. It's called 'I Can Do It Myself" by Stephen Krensky.

eta - now that the pjs have been worn and washed I really can't recommend this fabric - it does not hold up well at all. sad. if anyone finds something that looks similar but is higher quality, be sure to share in the comments!

    1. eek! i need to update this post. the kiddo has worn these once around the house on a lazy day - lots of playing and sitting on the carpet/couch and have since been washed. the fabric does not hold up well at all. the pjs look like they've been washed a hundred times - very fuzzy and pilled. so sad since the fabric looks great to start with and the pjs fit wonderfully. i think that maybe this fabric is best suited for something like an eternity scarf that won't get washed as much.

  6. What a shame that the fabric isn't holding up. It's adorable fabric and the jammies look comfy!
