Kid Room Re-Do

So, I'm really looking forward to changing things up a bit in Sydney's room. It's going to be a gradual process, as time and budget allows and some point I might even post *before* photos. That's if I can ever get her room cleaned up long enough to take said photos! Just last week, CSNstores.com sent me email offering me the opportunity to review an item of my choice from one of their stores. Uhmm, heck yeah. They offer everything from bedroom furniture sets to ceiling fans. I, of course, have picked out something for Syd's room which I think would be really cool in any kid's room. Once I get my hands on it, I'll let you in on what it is! In the meantime, I've been browsing for inspiration. So far I've gathered up a *few* ideas. . .

The print above is probably my favorite thing in Syd's room. It's definitely staying and I'd like to bring in a little more of the orange in the print. The wall color behind it, not so much. I'm kinda tired of it after almost 3 years and am ready to change things up. I'm thinking yellow! (Though I just read somewhere that the color yellow is hardest on the eyes and makes babies cry more. Huh...) I started thinking it was time to redecorate when I bought the toddler bed since not having a crib in the room will really open things up. We're not quite ready to put up the toddler bed yet, so I figure I have until Christmas or Syd's birthday in February to complete my room "make-over".

Bedding:

This quilt is what inspired me to try to make one for Syd's toddler bed. Have yet to get started but think it will look really cute in her room once it's all finished. I'm thinking lots of fun pillows too.

For the walls:

Modge Podge Clock by The Tortoise and the Hare

How cute is that clock? Follow the link above for the DIY info. I'd like to make something similar but maybe using a fun polka dot fabric. Minus the flowers. They're cute but I like to keep things simple. Since it's a small room, I probably will have to narrow down the ideas as I really don't like cluttery walls. Maybe a grouping of embroidery hoops and bold frames over her dresser. . .

Furniture:

Expedit Bookcase by Ikea (or as I like to call it, my home away from home)

I want to replace the smallish bookcase in Syd's room with an Expedit. I just love this thing! And the price too :) I've already got the toddler bed and we'll be keeping the same dresser so we're all set there.

If you had all the time and money in the world, how would you decorate your kiddo's room? Or your own?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  1. No kid's room (yet) but I do love the Expedit bookcase for sure - we have 2 in the house right now. I also adore those deer frames. They're so cute! :)

I am so ready to redo malia's room. Right now it's Hawaiian theme, really tired of it. I want to do soft modern next time.

  6. So many cute things!! So funny that you mentioned the yellow. My daughter's room was yellow for awhile and I swear it made her hyper. We changed it to a pink and then when we moved a pretty cool, but bright blue color and that has been great for her. :)
