Stuff

I'm taking a quick break from trying to coax my sewing machine into sewing nicely. Thought I'd share a great deal I found on fabric and such. I'm not sure how long this deal lasts but you can get 30% off and free shipping (on orders over $35) at Fabric.com! Using the coupon code (3PLTRY9), I was able to get $50 worth of pretty fabric for $35. Just as nice was the super fast delivery. I place my order Saturday and got my fabric today!

I also recently got a walking foot for my machine to try to alleviate fabric shifting issues I was having when sewing layers or needing stripes, etc to line up. I bought one some time ago at Sears since it was cheaper than the dealer price. One little problem. . . it came with NO instructions. I didn't have the slightest idea of how to attach the foot to my machine since it did not snap on and it also had a lever that seemed to get in the way. I sadly took it back to Sears and gave up. Then, my birthday came around and I decided to treat myself to a walking foot from the Janome dealer. Again, it didn't come with instructions (why the secrecy?!) but the salesperson gave me an idea of what to do with it when I got home. I took some photos of the foot installed on my machine in case anyone else needs help in figuring out what to do with it! Main piece of advice. . .the lever has to sit on top of the needle holder thingy. Otherwise it will not work. Please ignore the fuzz in the photo ;)

Last but not least,I found these cute little plastic cups at Walmart the other day. As I'm constantly on the look out for display ideas for the upcoming show I'm doing, I thought these would make great business card holders. They came in a set of two, were super cheap, and were available in a few different colors. I think they'll look cute in my sewing room after the show as well.

  2. Hey, as long as it's a good deal, then you're not doing anything "bad"! That's how I justify it anyways ;) I got my serger from Fabric.com several months back using one of their coupon codes. . . got it dirt cheap!

  4. You're welcome! I want to see what you got when you get it. Isn't the teapot fabric cute? I'm going to make some of the crayon folios with that.

  6. Mary, I have decided that there is no such thing as too much fabric! I think that it may be a good thing that I have no shops in my area that carry designer fabric as I would probably be homeless by now. Homeless, but surrounded by lots of pretty fabric ;)
