Scraps!

If you're just getting started in sewing, you may not have a lot of fabric scraps to play with. Or maybe you want to get your hands on some new, fun prints but don't want to spend a lot. That little problem can easily be solved inexpensively! I found myself in that very boat not too long ago. I mean, I had a lot of fabric but not a huge variety to choose from that would make for cute patchwork. So, I headed over to Etsy and searched for 'fabric scraps'. I found tons of sellers who offered various sizes of fabric scrap packs at different price points - something for everyone. Here are a few that I've ordered from or hope to soon:

Material Gal - designer cottons

thomaspark - designer cottons

Keykalou - she's currently sold out but often lists amazing scraps packs full of Japanese and out of print fabrics.

sweetflavor - more yummy Japanese prints

Starlit Nest - great variety of scraps available from designer cottons to reproduction prints

Once you get your hands on some great scraps, you'll need some fun projects to work on. Check out Sew Mama Sew's Scrap Buster Month archive for lots of ideas.

  2. I love buying designer scraps on Etsy! My favorite place to shop is Starlit Nest - she has all sizes available. I can't afford to ONLY have designer fabric so this is a nice way to work them in without breaking the bank.
