Naptime Sewing

So, I wrapped up an order for two dresses last night and planned to take the day off from sewing. Yeah, that so didn't happen. I made the mistake googling for ideas this morning in between online banking and checking email. If I spent as much time actually sewing/making things as I did drooling over things I find across the internet. . .well, I could open a store. There are just so many talented, creative, and inspiring people out there making things that make me want to make things! Unfortunately, there is only so much time in a day. When nap time rolls around (not mine, but Syd's of course) I feel compelled to turn on the sewing machine, listen to music, and see what I can come up with. Today's industriousness produced this halter top:

Ok, so you probably didn't need to see 4 pictures to get the idea but I couldn't seem to narrow them down. I'm just partial to that little face. The measurements/pattern I used for this is actually size 2T; a bit big for Syd, but leads me to think that this will make for a really sweet dress as well. I plan to experiment some more. . . stay tuned!

  1. I actually prefer 4 pictures, I like to see the dress from all angles.
I'll order one of these as well. Better start working, girl. Every time Malia wears one of your dresses, people want to where to buy one!
Any color/print will do, I love your combinations.

  2. Vanessa,
So cute! You are totally inspiring me. I actually spent time this afternoon with the ipod blaring while I sewed a skirt for myself. Happy sewing to you!

  3. Lyann-I'm going to email you in the morning about measurements. . . need a few different ones from what I have for Malia to make that halter top.

Jennie-Thanks! There is definitely something both relaxing and stimulating about sewing-you get to do something you enjoy AND have something to show for it when you're done. Doesn't get much better than that! And, at some point, I think I'm going to try to make myself something. Not sure what yet. . .

  4. I also really like that the Kwik Sew pattern (pictured above) has the pocket thing on the end of the crib. Simplicity has several crib patterns to choose from on their website. Lisa W. Degregorio
